LEATHER JACKET HISTORY AND ITS 100 YEARS
An anecdote fact concerning the leather jacket is that in 2014 was celebrated its 100 years anniversary since it was introduced as a female basic garment.
The leather jacket was created as a part of the aviators uniform during the World War I, with wool padded reinforcements in the neck, sleeves and waist. This design was to protect the pilots from the cold, because the inner part of the aircrafts were not pressurized.
At the end of the war, the soldiers went back home, and they wanted to leave something of their own, with great sentimental value, to all the women that gave them so much love and support during a hard period: “their leather jackets”.
Nowadays, the leather jacket is a cultural icon and a staple that every woman should have.
